We're so excited to introduce you to Berri, one of the most optimistic, positive, energetic, and motivated women we've met in the wellness world. Berri is a certified personal trainer, nutritionist, hormone specialist and wellness blogger who has a passion for helping female entrepreneurs prioritize their health and integrate it with their hustle. She's got some great tips and strategies to share with us!

How long have you been involved in health and fitness and how did you start?
I've been involved with health and fitness for the past 15 years of my life. It all started when I was in the 4th grade competing during field day. That's when we found out that not only could I run, but I was surprisingly much faster than everyone else. Ever since then, movement has been an everyday thing for me. Needless to say, 4th grade track was a lot different than high school, but I'm grateful I attained an All-American status in high school and then went on to run in college. Let's just say my entire life has truly been health and fitness, it's just evolved over time.
With HOH, the main focus is to truly build a community. A wellness space for modern working women to create bliss, love, and balance in all aspects of their life. In the near future, our virtual wellness studio will be launching. I am so excited about it. All of the workouts are actually going to be based around the phases of a woman's menstrual cycle since well that's what I help women do anyways, and a little birdie told me some merch is in the works. In the future, I would love to host workshops and maybe even have my own IRL boutique studio. But that's wee bit down the road yet.
What does a normal day look like for you?
Normal, what's that haha? For me everyday is truly different and I live my life in a daily flow. I try my best to start my mornings with power hour. 20 minutes of reading (currently reading Becoming by the fabulous Michelle Obama), 20 minutes of journaling or meditating, and 20 minutes of movement. From there, a quick skincare routine and smoothie, and then I'm off to either the coffee shop to create, a photoshoot (apparently I'm a model now hahaha), developing programs for clients, and of course client calls. I have to say, my favorite part of the day is when I get to help a woman understand the spirit and science behind hormones. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love what I do.
What are your favorite workouts? Do you prefer solo or class settings? Indoor or outdoor?
Hmmmm this is a tough question because I never know. I think my favorite workouts happen at the mall when I'm taking laps around stores (just kidding). At the moment my favorite workouts are barre classes, HIIT on the beach, and a run on the trails. I'm at this stage in my life where I focus on the joy of movement, and being in tune with my body. Most of the time, I'm working out and I don't realize it. I love being outdoors.
What’s your favorite music to workout to?
Music, I have two moods : I'm either Ariana Grande & Cardi B or Indie Folk. It really depends on the workout.
What do you like to do when you’re not working out / coaching?
Read. Any free time I have is dedicated to unwinding with a good book and doing puzzles with my bf :).
Are there any books, podcast episodes, etc that you've found particularly helpful / informative in your wellness journey? Or in your business journey?
Oh my gosh! There has been so many things I've found helpful on my wellness journey and business journey. Okay for your wellness journey, you've gotta read Light is the New Black & Rise Sister Rise by Rebecca Campbell. As for business, if you're not listening to the WorkParty podcast, you need to. It is amazing and honestly has the tips are the best I've found!
While your business is related to health, working for yourself still has a certain set of demands, some of which can contradict / fight with your wellness goals. For example, there's always something more to do, and not enough hours in the day. How do you keep your health a priority and when do you prioritize the business?
Oh it's so simple for me, but that's because I've found the flow and I think every woman needs to try it. Here's the low down on how to prioritize health and hustle.
1). Power Hour. Personally, it helps me focus on health and ensures that I'm nourishing my mind, body, and spirit.
2). Schedule your life. I build my entire life around my menstrual cycle. I know it's TMI, but it works and I will say this until I'm blue in the face (and it's hard for me to get blue, lol trust). If you take anything away from reading this, this is the most important thing : know your cycle and schedule your life accordingly.
Many of us know what we should do to maintain a healthy lifestyle, if we had the time, resources, discipline, etc. But often times, life gets in the way. What are some tips you have for incorporating wellness best practices into your life, even when the work / family / life demands are pretty intense? If someone has an upcoming event, a tight deadline, a new baby, or a grueling travel schedule, what steps can they take to still stay healthy?
I know you all are tired of hearing this, but please start everyday with Power Hour. It's seriously my catch all. It helped me when I was triple majoring in college, it helped me when I worked in Corporate America, it still helps me. I know there are more pressing things to do, I know you may not have the time, but honestly, if you want to be successful at anything, you've got to make the time. Also, always keep snacks in your purse. If you're anything like me, sometimes you may forget to eat, so keep snacks in your bag and you'll be good.
We all have some good health habits and some that could probably use improvement. For someone that's new to embracing a lifestyle geared towards wellness, what would you recommend focusing on first? What aspects would you include in a wellness "starter pack"? (Sleep? Food? Supplements? Exercise? Meditation?)
Oh this is a tough question... wellness starter pack. Hmmm, well I think I would recommend focusing on eating well, sweating more, loving yourself, and sleeping as much as needed. To be honest with you, I think the simpler the starter pack the better. Health or being healthy gets complicated so fast that honestly using the KISS (keep it simple sweetie) method is best.

Cook, order in, or out to eat? Any favorites?
Cook. I love hosting people and I love cooking when I have the time, and my favorite cuisines are Thai and Indian so naturally I love to cook those the most.
In May, I'll be launching my first course, so that is the main plan, and in June I'll be traveling to Toronto, which I am so excited for!
What is one thing you wish more people knew / understood about wellness? Any misconceptions you’ve encountered?
I honestly wish more people looked at wellness as a non-negotiable. I've heard so many excuses as to why people can't make time to workout and why they can't work with a trainer, but these are the same people who can totally go get a blow dry, and I'm like geez that 45 minute blow dry could've been a 45 minute sweat sesh or meditation or even both! I also wish people realized that wellness isn't complicated, it's really all about intuition and listening to your body.
We share an appreciation for embracing our feminine fortitude and encouraging that in other women! We like to use the motto “be the belle” as a reminder to be the very best version of ourselves that we can each day. What does “be the belle” mean to you?
Be the belle to me means to tap into your divine feminine and embody strength, grit, and grace in all that you do as a woman. Sometimes as women, we forget how strong, tenacious, and graceful we truly are, especially when things get tough, so to me, "be the belle" means to harness your inner divine feminine and let her shine.
