When we recently found out that two of our ambassadors - Maddie Pineda and Andrea Rustad - were planning to get together for a weekend of fitness, healthy eats, and city exploration, we couldn't help but want to be a part of it! These two documented their day in Boston, and they're so graciously sharing it all with us here, including the recipes from their delicious homemade brunch! Need a little weekend inspo? Look no further...
.
Andrea (@andrea_rustad) is originally from Minnesota, and is going into her senior year at Boston University. She loves the city of Boston, and was thrilled to be able to give Maddie a tour! Andrea is majoring in Chemistry, and minoring in Biology, French, and Dance. She is currently in the process of applying to medical school, as she hopes to become a doctor and eventually specialize in Dermatology. She has been dancing her whole life since starting classical ballet at age three. She also performs in musical theatre at college, and has been in the musicals Anything Goes, Legally Blonde, and Heathers.
.
Maddie (@maddieelise99) was born in Minnesota, but grew up in California and Texas. She is going into her Sophomore year at the Juilliard School. She really enjoys traveling and was thrilled to spend a day with Andrea! While studying dance at Juilliard, Maddie freelance models and dances for companies. She takes photos for dance/fitness clothing and dances with XY Dance Project based in New Jersey. Her goal is to finish the rest of her training at Juilliard and get a job in a professional contemporary company.
.
Andrea and Maddie met through ballet class in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and have kept in touch ever since!

as told by Andrea and Maddie :

We started the day off by making brunch! We both are really into healthy cooking and eating (check out our food instas @barre.and.brunch and @pescatarianpisces), and often share recipes and thought it would be super fun to make food together!

We made PB&J French Toast Skewers, omelet muffins, and broiled grapefruit. Everything turned out so tasty and we had a blast cooking! All the recipes are simple and healthy as well!

Next, we headed into downtown historic Boston to follow the Freedom Trail, which is a walking self-guided tour of historic Revolutionary-era monuments and sites. It is definitely a must-do when you go to Boston! You can see places such as the site of the Boston Massacre, the burial site of Benjamin Franklin and John Hancock, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere’s House, famous churches and meeting houses where important events of the American Revolution were planned, and Boston Common and the Massachusetts State House.
.
Next, we walked through Boston Common – which was established in 1634 and is America’s oldest public park! Right next to the Common is the Boston Public Gardens. Both are beautiful to walk through and has live music, swan paddle boats, and lovely flowers and statues.

We walked through the classic Boston brownstones and cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill, which is one of Boston’s most historic and beautiful neighborhoods. Of course we had to take some pictures on Acorn Street, which is the most photographed street in the United States! As you can see, it is absolutely adorable and picturesque!

We headed back across the garden to walk down Newbury Street, which is one of the most well-known streets in Boston for shopping and dining. Occasionally in the summer, they close the street to cars and have a celebration called “Open Newbury”, which luckily we got to see! Most stores and restaurants have fun booths, games, samples, or giveaways in the street. It is so fun to walk around and people (and dog) watch and explore the shops.
On Boylston Street, which runs parallel to Newbury, is the Boston Public Library.
It was the first large free municipal library in the US, and is gorgeous. It is a great place to study or read, and they even have a free concert series in the summer in their lovely courtyard.

Next, we headed across the river to Harvard Square in Cambridge to Barre & Soul, an amazing local fitness studio that not only has great workout classes (barre, yoga, cardio, and more!), but is a supportive and innovative, girl-power community. Andrea is the student ambassador for them (see her posts about barre on @barre.and.brunch!) and had to share with Maddie, because it is one of her favorite Boston spots. (And apparently not just hers - Barre & Soul was recently voted as the 2018 Best Barre Studio from Boston Magazine!) We took the Sunday Night Beats Yoga class there, and could tell this award was well-deserved. It is a fun, upbeat Vinyasa yoga class set to hip-hop and pop music. Maddie had come out to Massachusetts for the famed Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and she thought this was a great way to get moving and stretch before an intense three weeks of dancing full time. And of course, we wore our Belle Force gear to work out in style!

After our workout, we walked around the Harvard campus. We ended the day with a tasty seafood dinner and a delicious peanut butter cannoli from Mike’s Pastry, a Boston classic.
It was so fun to reunite and we were so happy to bring Belle Force along for our fun day of adventure!!

THANKS FOR SHARING WITH US, LADIES!
